The $100 fee covers the private evaluation visit with a doctor focused on Georgia medical cannabis eligibility, with state card fees charged separately. When Do You Pay the State Card Fee?
The state card fee is not paid to GMMC during the physician evaluation.
When a licensed Georgia physician certifies a patient, the physician uploads the required information and documentation to the Medical Cannabis Patient Registry and submits the required forms to Georgia DPH as part of the state process. Georgia DPH verifies the submission and contacts the patient if more information is needed.
After verification, Georgia DPH sends instructions for paying for the state-issued Georgia marijuana card. The current card fee is $30 per patient or caregiver card, plus a $3.75 service fee for online payment.

DPH states that payment must be submitted within 60 days. Once payment has been processed, DPH ships the card to the mailing address on file.
Is There a Separate Georgia Application Fee?

What Happens After Physician Certification?
When a physician certifies a patient, the state registry steps under Georgia's medical cannabis program follow:
The physician completes the required Medical Cannabis Certification.
The physician enters the patient and any applicable caregiver information into the registry.
The physician uploads the required identification information.
Georgia DPH verifies the registry submission.
DPH emails the patient or caregiver payment instructions.
DPH issues and ships the registry card after payment is processed.
DPH advises allowing up to 10 business days after payment processing to receive the card. That is a state estimate, not a guaranteed delivery time. Georgia does not recognize medical marijuana cards from other states. Medical cannabis cards are valid for five years in Georgia. Once certification and registry approval are complete, approved applicants become registered patients and may have legal possession of low THC cannabis oil only within Georgia’s limits, including up to 12,000 milligrams of THC. Qualified patients can use the card to purchase medical cannabis from state-licensed dispensaries and authorized independent pharmacies, which helps support patient access under the program. Medical use is legal for qualified patients under current state law in Georgia, while recreational marijuana use remains illegal. Medical marijuana legal access in Georgia is limited to the state’s medical program and does not allow smoking or general adult-use possession.
