Before you book: Georgia medical marijuana information

GMMC serves eligible adults age 18 and older throughout Georgia, and to apply for a card you must be a Georgia resident who can provide identification and proof of residency. The $100 fee covers a private 15-minute phone consultation with a Georgia-licensed physician, and under Georgia's medical cannabis law Georgia physicians review the patient's medical history and current condition before deciding whether to certify and manage patients in the state program; any approval depends on the physician's medical judgment. This consultation is for a Georgia medical cannabis patient seeking to legally access medical cannabis through the state's medical cannabis program, and applicants approved under that process become certified patients. A qualified physician may complete the required medical cannabis certification as part of physician certification if you have a qualifying condition under Georgia law, and that decision is based on the physician's medical judgment and is required before registry enrollment rather than serving as a traditional prescription.

For autism eligibility, adults may qualify with autism spectrum disorder; minors must have severe autism. Other qualifying conditions have separate criteria. GMMC serves adults only.

Follow DPH’s payment notice. DPH requires payment within 60 days after its payment instructions. Health insurance does not cover the state card fee.

Already booked? Next steps for your medical cannabis card

Review your next steps after booking for help finding your Calendly confirmation, receiving your eVisit link, and preparing for your visit. After a Georgia-licensed physician submits your information, the Department of Public Health verifies the registry submission and provides next steps for payment, card issuance, and maintaining an active medical cannabis card. The medical cannabis card is valid for five years before renewal is needed. Patients who qualify may legally possess medical cannabis and legally possess up to 12,000 milligrams of THC under Georgia's medical cannabis program. Smoking cannabis remains illegal in Georgia, but vaporization is legal for patients older than 21. Home cultivation is prohibited in Georgia. Under federal law, marijuana remains restricted outside Georgia's state medical cannabis program, so verify current requirements with official sources if you have legal questions. Follow the state instructions you receive after booking and evaluation. The Department of Public Health manages cards, while the Georgia Access to Medical Cannabis Commission handles licensing and production. For official card questions, contact DPH support by phone or email, and for product locations, look to licensed dispensaries and, where available, participating independent pharmacies listed through the commission.

General questions, booking help, and finding a medical marijuana doctor

Use the contact form below for general questions about getting a card in Georgia and for non-clinical booking help only. Sending this form does not schedule an appointment. To choose your appointment time, use the Book a $100 Consultation button.

Please keep medical history, diagnoses, medical records, and payment-card details out of this form. Patients who want to obtain medical cannabis through Georgia’s program must book with a Georgia-licensed physician whose principal practice location is in the state. A certifying physician may later request current proof of identity and residency, including documents that show your mailing address, such as a medical bill with your full name and street address; if you do not have a secure home address or use a P.O. Box, card delivery or pickup may be handled through the health department location nearest you. Do not use this form for medical cannabis certification requests or questions that require review by medical marijuana doctors. Discuss your medical information during your eVisit consultation.

If you are already certified, use this contact form for booking issues only; clinical questions about certification, caregivers administering medical cannabis, or registry access belong in the private consultation.
